1. Have clear objetives.
Whatever action we take in the classroom without having a clear goal, will not lead us to effective learning. Everything we do in the classroom must have a clear pedagogical purpose. |

2. Plan your classes step by step.
Every week, day, and task must be thoroughly planned. That means asking yourself: what am I going to teach? Why am I going to teach it? How can I group my students in order to have the best outcome? How long do I need for each task? What kind of materials do I need? Think of other questions that can help you develop good planning skills. |

3. Have good social and communication skills.
Why do we teach language? Because we want our students to communicate. Therefore, this must be the principle that underlies our planning and it is a must for all teachers. |

4. Understand the concept of classroom management.
Classroom management are procedures teachers use to ensure the best environment for effective teaching. Not only does it deal with discipline issues, but it also involves teaching methods, routines, grouping arrangements and ways to involve and inspire students to work actively in the classroom. |

5. Be enthusiastic and inspiring.
We only learn or teach if we are inspired. We do not teach books, we teach people, and people will only learn if they are truly inspired. |

6. Be patient and good-humored.
Teaching can be a stressful job. Although we may feel like leaving the classroom screaming our lungs out (which maybe we should, sometimes!), we know students have different learning paces. Patience and positive attitude are the recipe not to freak out before the end of the school year. |

7. Be aware you do not hold all the knowledge of the world.
Although this may sound shocking, we teachers do not know everything! Sometimes we learn more from our students than we can imagine. We just have to be open to what they have to teach us. |
